Once you complete the 16 days of initial Bridge-to-Success training, you will be placed in your unit with a trained preceptor.
The length is based on the type of unit and the previous experience of the international staff member. The goal is to support you while you learn about U.S.-based healthcare and apply your expertise to your specialty.
Staff will buy uniforms through the Kettering Health intranet after arrival. Bring at least one uniform with you. MedSurg and ICU RNs wear black and royal blue scrubs. RNs in the ED wear black and red scrubs. Scrubs will be provided for OR nurses.
This varies based on units and patient acuity. Generally, MedSurg ratios are 1:5-6 and ICU ratios are 1:2.
We strongly recommend the nurses complete courses on RN.com (www.rn.com). These courses are designed to give insight into U.S. nursing practice and expectations.
